Version 20
Back on Track (25 September 2026)
-Improved-
– Switching host keeps your progress. Files that had already finished are kept, and a bundle
carries on from where it stopped on the other host – then it’s checked, as a resumed bundle
always is.
– The speed test follows the same steps. If a host doesn’t deliver the test file, the app
checks your connection first, then switches host by itself instead of asking.
– Downloads recover by themselves. A dropped connection no longer ends a download: the app
waits a moment, reconnects and continues from where it stopped, on every hosting service. A
download that stops receiving data is noticed within 30 seconds.
– The app checks your connection before blaming the host. When a download fails, it first
checks whether your internet works. If it doesn’t, it tells you so. If it does, it switches to
the other hosting service and tries again by itself – no questions to answer.
– Sizes stay up to date. When a pack gets a new version, its download size is measured
again, so the size box never shows the previous version’s size.
– EDMS V courses are back. With courses turned on, an installed EDMS V offers them as a small
update.
– Settings remembers where you were. It opens on the page you used last, and that page is
highlighted.
– Tips appear where you’re pointing. The (?) tips in Settings show right next to the mouse
instead of far to the side.
– Setting up a new profile is quicker. It goes straight to choosing the profile’s folder, and
reminds you that each profile needs its own.
– It always unpacks with its own 7-Zip. The app now uses the up-to-date 7-Zip (26.02) that
comes with it, instead of whichever version happens to be installed on your PC.
– Nothing kept in AppData any more. The app no longer stores copies of its data in your
AppData folder – everything stays in its own folder.
– “Import my old settings” is only offered the first time you set up the app.
– Settings > Addon shows the video option for bundles that’s coming in 2027-2028.
-Fixed-
– With “Keep the updater open after Play” turned on, Play could still open a second copy of
EdmsUpdater if it had been chosen as the game engine in Settings. The Settings picker now
refuses it too, and Play checks before every launch.
– After a small update, the app could ask you to download that pack’s courses again.
– “Download everything” could mark a pack as having its courses when none had been downloaded,
so they were never offered.
– Setting up or switching profiles no longer checks download sizes behind the Settings window.
– A retried download no longer makes the progress bar jump ahead.
Version 19
Know Before You Go (13 August 2026)
-Improved-
– Bundles show their size instantly. No more waiting while the app asks the hosting service
how big a download is – the size now comes with the version list, so it’s there the moment you
select a bundle, on every host.
– The space warning uses real numbers. It used to assume unpacking a download needs about
twice its size. That was a rough guess, and for some content it was well short – chart files
are plain text and unpack to around thirty times the size they download at. The app now works
out what each part actually unpacks to, so the “Needs” figure you see when hovering the size
box is the real thing, and you get told about a full drive before the download rather than
part-way through installing.
– Resumed bundle downloads are now checked too. A download that runs start to finish is
verified as it arrives, at no cost. One that you paused and resumed couldn’t be checked that
way, so the app now reads the file back afterwards – shown as its own step with a blue progress
bar, which you can cancel.
– Bundle downloads are refused if the server list doesn’t publish a checksum for them, rather
than being installed unchecked.
– If you’re short on space, the message now says the downloaded file has been kept, so you can
free some up and carry on without downloading it again.
– Running out of space during installation is now recorded in the error log, which it wasn’t
before.
-Fixed-
– The Play button no longer lets you pick EdmsUpdater itself as your game engine. It didn’t do
any harm, but with “keep the updater open after Play” turned on it left two copies running at
once, both using the same settings and the same download folder.
– The application icon is sharp at every size in Windows Explorer.
Version 18
Take It With You (7 August 2026)
-New-
– Portable mode – A new option in Settings > Folders, off by default. Turned on, everything
the app remembers (your folders, quality profiles, installed versions and unlocks) is kept in a
file inside the application folder instead of on this PC. Copy the application to another computer
and it all comes with it. If a folder doesn’t exist on the new machine, the app tells you and
asks you to pick it – for each profile in turn. Your downloaded songs are separate and aren’t
moved. Note it can’t be used if the app is installed somewhere protected like Program Files,
since Windows won’t let it write there.
– Bundle downloads are now verified against a checksum published by the server. A damaged or
incomplete download is caught the moment it finishes, instead of failing part-way through
extracting tens of gigabytes. The check costs nothing – it’s worked out while the file
downloads.
-Improved-
– An installed bundle now shows how much space it takes up, rather than what it would cost to
download again.
– The application icon is sharp at Windows’ Large and Extra Large icon views. It was being
stretched from a small image before.
– App updates can now be delivered as .7z as well as .zip.
-Fixed-
– Bundle download sizes were re-checked every time you switched quality profile, even though a
bundle’s size doesn’t depend on your quality settings at all.
Version 17
Loose Ends (1 August 2026)
-New-
– Keep the updater open after Play – a new option in Settings > Folders. Off by default, the
updater closes when you press Play, as before. Turned on, it minimizes instead and comes back
by itself when you close the game.
-Improved-
– Pressing Play when no game engine is set now just saves the one you pick. It used to launch it
immediately and close the updater, which made “tell the app where my game is” and “start my
game” the same click.
– Selecting a pack you already have no longer pauses on “Checking size…” – it shows what’s on
disk straight away.
– Turning Courses on now only measures the course files instead of re-checking every pack. The
same goes for changing a single quality answer, like the banner size.
– Download sizes are remembered per quality profile, so switching between profiles no longer
re-checks everything each time.
– “Clear the cache now” shows how many files and how much space it would free, and greys out
when there’s nothing to clear.
– Project OutFox’s cache now also includes its Background folder and OutFox.cache file.
– “Download everything” downloads all the secret packs, matching the icon order.
– More detail is written to the error log when an extraction or a bundle download fails, so a log
sent with a bug report has the full picture.
-Fixed-
– Clear Game Cache would accept any folder you pointed it at and only complain later, when you
tried to clear. It now refuses anything that isn’t your engine’s Cache folder straight away.
– “Currently using” didn’t appear after “Download everything” or a bundle finished – you had to
leave the page and come back.
– “Clear the cache now” kept showing the old file count after clearing.
– The “Include Secret Pack” box appeared while a download was running, on the Bundles page, and
alongside “Set download preference”, where none of them belong. Unticking it now also warns
that the pack you already have is not deleted.
Version 16
Progress & Speed (31 July 2026)
-New-
– Progress on the icons – The pack being downloaded now fills in on the left-hand column,
with a ring around it tracking how far along it is. The ring turns orange while extracting,
with a second ring inside for the extraction itself.
– “Download everything” shows both – The AIO icon tracks the whole batch while each pack
shows its own progress as its turn comes round.
– Test your download speed – Settings > Downloads has a speed test for whichever host you’re
using. It downloads part of a real pack file for about ten seconds, shows the speed live, then
throws it away – nothing is saved to disk. Each host keeps its own last result.
– Import a quality file while setting up – The download-quality wizard can now load a
.edmsquality file someone sent you instead of asking every question.
-Improved-
– “Download everything” no longer includes one of the secret pack by default.
It’s a pack containing unfinished charts, so there’s now a tick box on the AIO page
for anyone who does want it. (Only appear when Veteran access are active)
Packs you already installed are unaffected.
– Reset quality and the complete application reset now warn that your downloaded song files are
NOT deleted, and that changing format afterwards leaves you with both copies.
– Sizes measured during a “Download everything” check are remembered per pack, so selecting an
individual pack no longer re-checks something already measured.
– Clearing unused downloads updates the buttons straight away instead of waiting for Settings
to close.
– Secret packs swapped places in the icon column.
-Fixed-
– A Download button could appear on the home page with nothing selected, and failed when clicked.
– The size box could show the previous pack’s size while it was still measuring a new one, and
wouldn’t reveal its detail if the cursor was already resting on it when the size arrived.
– A small update no longer warns about “missing download links” for the formats it doesn’t need
to replace.
– Resetting a profile’s quality didn’t refresh the main window until Settings was closed.
– The download size could be wrong after switching hosting service.
– On the Bundles page, buttons didn’t refresh after closing Settings.
– The “Needs: ~X” hover no longer appears when your Songs folder and temp folder are on
different drives.
Version 15
Housekeeping (27 July 2026)
-Fixed-
– The Settings window no longer changes size while you drag it around.
– Disk space warnings now record one clear line in the error log instead of the whole message,
which keeps the log readable when you send it in with a bug report.
– The “Checking files…” step no longer re-checks files already sitting complete in the temp
folder. (Alternative Host)
Version 14
Progress & Resume (25 July 2026)
-New-
– Resume Download – cancel a download and the button now reads “Resume Download”. It picks up
where you stopped instead of starting over.
– Disk space check – before a download begins, the app makes sure there’s room for it. If you
download and extract on the same drive it accounts for both, and tells you which drive is short
and by how much.
-Improved-
– The progress bar now follows the real download size. It moves at a steady pace and no longer
jumps at the end.
– The bar shows which pack and which part is downloading (for example “EDMS AO – Background”),
along with the running total for the whole download.
– The bar turns orange while extracting, so the two stages are easy to tell apart.
– “Download everything” now shows one continuous bar across every pack instead of restarting per
pack.
– Bundles no longer ask you to confirm disk space before each download – the new space check only
speaks up when there’s an actual problem.
-Fixed-
– Files that had already finished downloading were being downloaded again when a cancelled
download was restarted. They’re now skipped.
– Leftover files belonging to an older version of a pack are cleared automatically, so an
out-of-date file can never end up in a new install.
– Leftovers from one pack could be consumed by the next pack’s installation, and could wrongly
mark that pack as having course files.
– The Reset button now appears as soon as a pack’s folder goes missing, instead of only after
reopening Settings.
– Clear Game Cache no longer warns that a valid Project OutFox cache folder is unrecognizable when
it’s simply empty. Unrelated folders inside the cache are ignored and never touched.
– Buttons in Settings now line up consistently on every page.
– Far more detail is recorded in the error log – missing download links, links pointing somewhere
unexpected, size-check failures and skipped files – which makes problems much easier to
diagnose from a bug report.
Version 13
Download Fixes (10 July 2026)
-Fixed-
– Fixed the download screen showing “0 B” as the total size —
it now correctly displays how much you’re downloading out of the total.
– Fixed chart files being skipped (in really few case) for some packs when video was turned on but the pack has no video.
– Small reliability improvements to the download size display.
Version 12
Profiles, Cache Control & Sharing (9 July 2026)
-New-
– Quality profiles: You can now keep up to 4 separate setups and switch between them with a click — perfect if you play more than one engine on the same PC. Each profile remembers its own quality, folders, and installed packs. Find them at the top of the Downloads settings. Hold a slot to rename, reset, or delete it.
– Clear Game Cache: An optional tool that clears your game engine’s cache after an update, so it rebuilds cleanly and shows your new content. Off by default — turn it on in the Addon settings and pick your engine. It always asks before deleting anything and shows exactly what and where.
– Share your quality settings: Export your quality choices to a file you can send to a friend, and import setups from others. Great for copying a known-good configuration between people or engines.
– You can now right-click a profile slot to rename, reset, or delete it (holding still works too).
– Streamlined the Downloads settings — reset your quality preference directly from the active profile slot.
-Improved-
– Download buttons already told you whether a pack needs a small update, a full update, or a first-time download — now that information carries across all your profiles.
– Clearer messaging when a download can’t reach a host, with the backup download method offered automatically instead of manual workarounds.
– Various wording and interface refinements throughout Settings.
-Fixed-
– Assorted stability and consistency fixes across downloads and settings.
– Fixed a Settings window sizing issue that could cause flickering or an unnecessary scrollbar.
– Minor interface and wording improvements.
Version 11
Fetching Improvement (3 July 2026)
-Improved-
– Changed where the Changelog (in What’s new) are loaded from. Lower the fetching time at the beginning.
Version 10
Adding 2 new buttons + Small fixe (1 July 2026)
-New-
– Added more buttons (Update available, Small Update Available)
-Fixed-
– Fixed an issues where the Total Download show xMB / 0b downloaded.
Version 9
Courses Top-Up & Download Improvements (30 June 2026)
-New-
– Courses can now be added to packs you’ve already installed.
Enable courses in Settings and the app will download just the course files for your installed packs —
no need to re-download everything.
– Added a moving stripe animation to the progress bar while downloading,
so it’s clearer at a glance when a download is active.
-Improved-
– Download size estimates are now smarter about disk space:
the “download + extraction” space note only appears when your download and game folders are on the same drive.
– Improved download reliability further in cases where the usual download sources can’t be reached, including the ability to fetch the app’s update through the backup path.
– “What’s new?” in Settings now reliably shows the latest server changelog.
-Fixed-
– Fixed “What’s new?” showing a connection error even when the changelog was available.
– Fixed packs without course content being incorrectly flagged as needing a course download.
– Corrected download size estimates when only course files need downloading.
Version 8
Download Resilience Update, Download Reliability & Cleanup Improvements (27 June 2026)
-New-
– Added an additional safeguard for download reliability in rare cases where the usual download sources can’t be reached.
– Added a quick way to clear leftover download files you no longer need, with a live readout of how much space they’re using.
-Improved-
– The download size shown when selecting a pack, bundle, or “Download everything” is now remembered,
so switching between options is instant instead of re-checking every time.
– Size checks no longer run for content you already have installed and up to date.
– Added an additional safeguard for download reliability in rare cases where the usual download sources can’t be reached.
– Bundle downloads now warn about disk space only when your download and game folders are on the same drive (no unnecessary prompt when they’re on separate drives).
-Fixed-
– “Clear unused downloads” now correctly counts and clears all leftover download files, and its readout updates immediately after a reset without needing to reopen Settings.
Corrected a few status messages shown while a download size is being checked.
– Fixed a few status messages shown while a download size is being checked.
– Corrected the download size shown during pack and “Download everything” downloads.
